Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint
With Chalk Paint Wax White you can give your furniture a lighter color or a white wash look. The wax is not glossy, but can be made glossy by rubbing it on.
For a protective layer, apply chalk paint clear wax to your furniture. This makes your furniture water-repellent and scratch-resistant. For a cupboard, one layer is sufficient, for a table top or kitchen cupboard, apply at least 3 thin layers of wax.
Always keep in mind a tip from annie sloan herself; the wax is like a hand cream. Do not apply too much because this does not absorb and is completely unnecessary and makes the result blotchy! You can apply the wax with a lint-free cloth or a special wax brush. Small projects can be done with a cloth, but for a very large cupboard, a wax brush saves a lot of work! It is important to cut some small cloths of approximately 15x15 cm before you start. You use these cloths in addition to your wax brush or wax cloth to distribute the wax and remove the excess. It is also important that the paint is properly dry before you start waxing. It is best to let the last layer of paint harden for 24 hours .
Artist and innovator Annie Sloan invented her revolutionary Chalk Paint® in 1990, and has continued to refine her formula ever since. Designed for use on furniture and walls, it is unique in that, in most cases, it can be used without the need for any preparation, such as sanding or priming. Described as ‘the fool-proof furniture paint’ is can be applied to many types of surface, including metal, melamine, wood and glass. With a vibrant colour palette inspired by 18th and 20th Century decor and design to choose from, there’s a pigment for every project.
Do not use the wax on wooden or wicker garden furniture that is exposed to the elements.
