Wind & Sea Striped Melanime Dinner Plate
Plate in white clay and matt glaze in soft yellow or soft green.
The "flame color" (hiiro) along the boundary between the glaze and the clay is a natural phenomenon that occurs during the firing process: the results of the interaction between earth, air and fire. Typically, the glaze is applied to all visible surfaces of the pottery, hiding the flame color at the bottom of the pot. By stopping the glaze along a visible line on the pottery, the color can be used as a motif.
