The PH system was developed to bring completely glare-free lighting to homes that was effective and more pleasant at the time when electric lighting began to take over from candle chandeliers and kerosene lamps in the late 1990s. 20 of the last century. However, many longed for warmer, more comfortable lighting than the light bulbs of the time were able to provide. It was true that silk softened the lighting and created atmosphere... at the expense of lighting quality. Henningsen and Louis Poulsen saw here an opportunity to once again attract private customers. Around 1930, Louis Poulsen launched a new and extensive series of PH lamps.
