Sääpäiväkirja is Finnish and means something like "weather diary". The simple and elegant pattern of the designer Aino-Maija Metsola is reminiscent of wind blades blowing in the wind. With the chic graphic design it stylishly serve desserts and snacks. And with the other black and white kitchen accessories by MARIMEKKO you can assemble your own modern and elegant service.
The Finnish textile company Marimekko was founded in 1951 by Viljo Ratia and his wife Armi. The design was particularly well known in the 1960s and 1970s. Today Marimekko is world-famous for his high-quality designer fabrics and home accessories with distinctive patterns, motifs and colors. The often large-scale, yet simple motifs and color combinations are timeless, innovative, characteristic and inspired by nature.
It started with a dress. In the 1950s, Marimekko’s trail-blazing founder Armi Ratia created the brand’s very first pieces; a vividly printed range of liberating dresses that reflected her confident spirit. Contrary to the traditional attire of the time, Ratia’s designs embraced looser silhouettes, bold, colourful prints and a free-spirited sensibility made to empower women. This legacy still lives on today, and Marimekko’s eye-catching range of printed pieces now extends to accessories, homewares, ceramics and more. Each piece is expertly printed in the brand’s Helsinki printing factory and the Finnish company’s vibrant motifs are instantly recognisable – give a special friend or loved one a stylish surprise with a playful printed tote bag, chic mug or colourful set of notecards.
