Hand washing is recommended for wool to maintain its softness and prevent pilling. The wool fibers in lambswool have delicate cuticle cells that protect the outer layer, and machine washing can disrupt these fibers, leading to a loss of softness. By hand washing, you can ensure that your piece remains soft and in good condition. After washing, gently squeeze out excess water without wringing or twisting the garment. Lay it flat on a clean surface to dry, avoiding hanging to prevent any potential stretching. Whenever possible and in case of minor stains, opt for spot cleaning to minimize full washes and preserve the garment’s integrity. We recommend steam ironing at medium temperature in order to stretch the fibres to their original shape, specially when shrinkage occurs.
